Beautiful Things
ByToday is my last official day of freedom, before I return to work on Monday and start my new job. I really don’t want to go back – I love being at home pottering around, reading and taking naps! I needed a few things so decided to head into town with Mr. A to do a bit of shopping, not forgetting the usual trip to Costa coffee for a nibble and a slurp!
I popped into T.K.Maxx hoping to find a pair of chunky brown boots, but the shoe section was hideous! However, when wandering around the home section, I found many pretty things. I was instantly reminded of the quote:
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful ~ William Morris
So when I saw an amazing little trunk decorated with parrots, and a lovely glass dish I knew I had to have them in my home. The trunk will be a pretty and stylish way to store some of my crafting bits and bobs, and I will use the dish to store some jewellery. In fact when sorting through some of my jewellery, I actually found two pairs of earrings that I have never worn and had forgotten buying. So it must have been fate!
I’m really happy with these finds, so it was well worth ditching the pyjamas and venturing out into the cold today. What about you – have you bought/been given anything special recently?

OH I hear you about going back to work on Monday. Espcially after two weeks off. Bought recently? I splurged a whole $1.50 on three retro postcards. I like to frame them and hang them on the wall.
I really don’t want to go back – why I can’t I have enough money to not work?!! I love collecting postcards, it’s the chepeast form of art and you can easily change your display!
They look so pretty! My recent finds were all dresses (and BRAS THAT FIT! Hurrah!) Good luck at your new job! I go back on tuesday, so at least I’m spared the Monday morning feeling of going back then, but still it’s come far too quickly!
Wait a minute, they actually do bras that fit properly? Who knew?!! I just wish my wires would stop vanishing into the washing machine

Hahaha! I know – I was amazed! I have one more day of freedom before giong back amnd I am trying my very best to ignore it in the hope that it won’t happen!

I ordered myself an owl tea cosy from Amazon that I spotted while searching for a birthday gift for a friend. I’m so excited for it to get here!
I could not resisit it. I’ve also spotted some large hat boxes that would be perfect for bedroom storage, but I don’t know how to get them home on the bus! My pal would love the tea cosy, she is owl obsessed!
